Mammography Machine

KDH’s mammography machine has reached the end of its life and urgently needs replacement. Due to its age and recurring technical issues, the machine was out of service for several weeks in the summer of 2025, directly impacting patient care. Finding compatible parts and software has become increasingly difficult and will soon be impossible.

KDH is exploring the purchase of a 3D Tomosynthesis mammography system, which offers significant advantages, including:

  • Earlier detection of small breast cancers that may be hidden on 2D mammograms
  • Greater accuracy in identifying the size, shape, and location of abnormalities
  • Fewer unnecessary biopsies and follow-up tests
  • Improved detection of multiple breast tumors, which occur in about 15% of breast cancer patients

  • ct scanner

In 2025, the KDH Foundation surpassed its $2.2 million fundraising goal through the Crossroads Campaign, and the Tallman Family CT Scanner Suite became a reality. The CT Scanner has been in operation since April 14, 2025, and has already performed more than 2,000 scans. Having a CT Scanner on-site at KDH has reduced regional CT wait times, enhanced patient care quality, and transformed local healthcare delivery. It has strengthened emergency and inpatient services while greatly reducing the need for patient transfers, ensuring timely, efficient, and high-quality care right here at KDH.
